Bytown Dog Obedience Club is a nonprofit dog club providing obedience training since 1960. At BDOC we use motivational reward based methods to teach you to train your dog. Our instructors have many years of experience training all breeds of dogs and welcome both purebred and mixed breed dogs. In our puppy socialization classes puppies get to play with other puppies, learn basic commands, and your “puppy” questions get answered.
We have Beginner (young dogs or those with no prior training) and Intermediate classes that are designed to teach you to teach your dog good manners. We also offer more advanced obedience classes for those of you wanting to compete with your dog.
One of our most popular new classes is called Fun with Fido. The Fun with Fido classes focus on shaping new behaviours in the form of tricks (e.g., go to mat, carrying basket, crawling, bowing), relay races, and new obstacles to get comfy with things like a wobble board, balance beam, weave poles and jumping through hoops. BDOC makes dog-training fun for both you and your Fido. Bytown holds their classes at Ottawa Doggy Daycare, just off Merivale, south of Hunt Club Road.
